A FOUNDATION set up to commemorate a Tywyn teenager who tragically died has donated a huge sum to install life-saving equipment at his old school.
On Tuesday, Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn was delighted to receive a cheque for £1,500 from the Toby Edwards Memorial Fund which will be used to install a defibrillator outside of the school building where it can serve the whole community.
The fund was established to commemorate the life of Toby Edwards, who died in his sleep after succumbing to heart failure in May 2012 aged just 20.
The sad passing shocked the whole town and the fund has subsequently raised many thousands of pounds for local causes in Toby’s name over the last four years.
In their latest display of generosity, trustees of the fund have donated the four-figure sum to Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn after the comprehensive school recently started a campaign to install a defibrillator following an educational life-saving course by Welsh Hearts.
