A NEWCASTLE Emlyn mum-of-two has spoken of her distress after a heartless thief stole her wedding ring from her hospital bedside while she underwent a major operation at Carmarthen’s Glangwili Hospital on Friday.
Heartbroken Jessica Bridgewater, a nurse, discovered jewellery from her handbag was missing when she returned from the operating theatre.
Now the 31-year-old has launched an appeal on her Facebook page offering a reward for the return of the ring and other items of jewellery which she says are of “huge” sentimental value.
“I didn’t just lose my wedding ring I also lost my engagement ring, a necklace bearing my children’s fingerprints and a ring my husband, Richard, had given me for Christmas,” Jessica, who was on Picton Ward, told the Cambrian News.
“I am devastated that someone could have taken items so dear to me just when I was at my most vulnerable.
“My wedding ring contains diamonds from my great-grandmother’s own wedding ring and is obviously very old.
“I am absolutely desperate to get these things back which is why I’m offering a reward for their return – no questions asked.”
However, Jessica says she has been “genuinely touched” by the warm response to her online appeal.
If anyone has any information regarding the theft, they can contact Jessica via Facebook. Police confirmed they were investigating.
