Help needed to push project

By Alex Jones in Charity

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to assist with a project which is improving children’s mental health.

Barbara Martindale, a family therapist who lives in Tywyn, has recently published her Sammy’s Stories series, a collection of books which encourage schoolchildren to assess and improve their own mental wellbeing.

The project, which is proving a success in local schools, has hit a stumbling block, however.

Barbara said: “I am getting lots of positive comments and encouragement about Sammy’s Stories but desperately need someone with a background in IT who can help us set up a website and Facebook page etc.

“We also need now someone who is willing to volunteer to do English to Welsh translation of the books and materials to a standard acceptable in schools, maybe a retired teacher?

“We’ve been affected by due to long-term illness in the organisation, if you can help us find someone that would be great.”

The What Makes You Happy? books are available to buy in the Tywyn Library, Cambrian Vets, the book shop and the new local art and craft shop or by post, all proceeds are reinvested to print more books.

Posters will also be put up around town.
