Penrhyn shot down by Bluebirds
Huws Gray Cymru Alliance
Caersws 2 Penrhyncoch 2
PENRHYNCOCH slipped to their first defeat of the season in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance as they went down to two second half goals against former Welsh Premier club Caersws.
Kevin Jenkins’ side had gone into the match in good heart, after claiming a win against Rhayader and draw against Ruthin Town, however this keenly-anticipated mid Wales derby proved a bridge too far for Penrhyn.
After a closely-contested opening half, it was Caersws, who had defeated defending champions Llangefni the previous weekend, who opened the scoring through Gareth Sudlow.
Penrhyncoch, led by skipper Gari Lewis continued to battle well, but the Bluebirds made sure of their second success of the season when summer signing from Aberystwyt, Karl Seliaerts, scored a crucial second goal.
After three successive home games, which have yielded four points, Penrhyn face another tough test this weekend as they travel to play another ex-Welsh Premier side in Cefn Druids, who notched their first win of the season at Llangefni last weekend.
