Safeflue Caernarfon District League
Safeflue Caernarfon District League
NEFYN United Reserves are enjoying life in the Safeflue Caernarfon and District League’s division two, boasting a superb run of four straight wins, the latest being by a 3-0 score at Blaenau Ffestiniog.
They opened the scoring after just eight minutes through Alan Jones, then Brian Matthews scored on 40 in the lead up to half-time, and Tomos Jones added the third on 49.
Trefor dropped precious points in a 3-3 home draw with Machno United, but the outcome could have been a lot worse, because the Llyn side were trailing by three clear goals until the closing quarter.
The stirring revival was rewarded with reply goals from Ian Williams on 70 minutes, Rhys Gethin Williams on 78 and Chris Banks on 86.
Together they scrubbed out visitors Machno’s anticipation of an away win, which was created by goals from Rob Lloyd after 27 and 57 minutes and Josh Lloyd on 62.
Pwllheli Reserves suffered defeat for the first time in four tests, when on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline at Bethesda Athletic, where they found the target first and last.
Owen Williams provided the opener for Pwllheli on 15 minutes and Michael Williams closed up the arrears on 82 but, in between, Bethesda took charge with goals from Darren Ishmael after 20 and 35 and Sion Lock on 76 minutes.
In the clash of two newcomer clubs, Llanbabo added to the mounting problems of Llandudno 147 by imposing an 8-0 thrashing, in which Luke Pleming bagged four goals for the victory, while Johnny Cyster added two and Gavin Williams and Jason Roberts one each.
Harlech Town could not cope with visitors Nantlle Vale, who notched a convincing 5-2 win. A brace of goals by the home side’s Darren Parry hardly helped in contrast with the winners’ double strikes from Kevin Williams and Aled Jones with one extra being scored by Wayne Jones.
Barmouth and Dyffryn United Reserves occupy second place in division one, after a hard-fought only goal win away at Deganwy, where Rob Murfet made the essential difference just before the hour.
Penrhyndeudraeth, who are lying in third position, were also away successes, achieving a 2-0 score at Llanrug United, thanks to goals nine minutes apart midway through the second half, from Carwyn Price after 54 and Gareth Jones on 63.
Talysarn Celts and Mynydd Llandygai drew 2-2, after rival goals from David Parry on 15 minutes and Adrian Griffith on 46 for the hosts and Jamie Roberts on 45 and Kevin de Waart on 90 for the visitors.
