Students slide to home defeat

ABERYSTWYTH University are still chasing their first Spar Mid Wales League division one points of the new year after going down 2-0 at home to Newbridge, a result that keeps them adrift at the foot of the table. Two goals from Tom Harding sentenced the students to defeat as Newbridge kept alive their slim chances of challenging for the title with their eighth successive win. The University side more than matched their  visitors for long spells, and had their chances, with one of the best falling to Rob Maggi, whose shot was saved before being headed off the line.
