Jones signs for Bala Town
EX-Welsh international and Wrexham midfielder Mark Jones (pictured) has signed forms for ambitious Welsh Premier Super 12 club Bala Town.
The 25-year-old, who has won two full caps for his country as well as five at Under-21 level, has made 162 appearances for the Dragons, scoring 26 goals. Jones will link-up with ex-team-mate Danny Williams, who had joined Bala in the January transfer window. Meanwhile veteran midfielder Ricky Evans has made Newtown his tenth Welsh Premier club after one season at Maes Tegid, and defender Mark Harris and Warren Duckett have switched to Cefn Druids.
Bala begin their season where they finished last season, namely The GenQuip Stadium, home of Port Talbot on Sunday, 15 August. The following Saturday, 21 August, Bala entertain Bangor in the first live match televised from Maes Tegid. The festive fixtures will feature double headers at Airbus on Boxing Day and at home on New Year’s Day. Opponents in the first round of the Loosemore’s Cup are Prestatyn, over two legs.
Forthcoming friendlies are at Llansantffraid Village on Saturday, 17 July; at Winsford on Wednesday, 21 July; away to Mossley on Saturday, 24 July; away to Denbigh Town on Tuesday, 27 July; home to Woodley Sports on Saturday, 31 July and away to Cammell Laird on Tuesday, 3 August.
