Sport our car sticker for a chance to win a prize

03 February 2010

The Cambrian News special car stickers, produced for our 150th anniversary, are now available.
And if you sport one of these stickers (seen here) on your vehicle during 2010, you could win one of 11 monthly prizes, worth £50 each.

The stickers, for the rear windscreen of your vehicle, will be available from your local newsagent and from the Cambrian News offices in Aberystwyth and Porthmadog.
Our eagle-eyed staff will be looking out for the stickers and one vehicle will be chosen at random to win a prize each month from around our huge 3,000-square-mile circulation area, which stretches from north Pembrokeshire in the south, right up to the Llŷn Peninsula in the north of Wales.

The prizes up for grabs are £50 vouchers from Aberystwyth businesses Polly’s, Rob Rattray’s, Aber Gas, T J Davies and Son, Lampeter House, Co-op Penparcau and Anthony Motors; a £50 voucher from the Falcondale Hotel, Lampeter; a £50 voucher from the Trefeddian Hotel, Aberdyfi; and two first-class tickets on the Ffestiniog Railway (worth £50) plus tea and cakes.
Monthly winners will be able to choose one prize from those remaining.

The Cambrian News is planning a series of special events and competitions to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the newspaper.
Also in the pipeline is a special exhibition charting the Cambrian News’ history and highlighting many of the important stories and pictures published over the century and a half. The exhibition will start in Aberystwyth in the middle of April and will then travel to Lampeter, Dolgellau and Porthmadog in June and July.

Primary school pupils are also designing a special 150th birthday card for the Cambrian News, with prizes on offer. Entries will be featured in the exhibition and the winners will be announced at the 2010 Urdd Eisteddfod in Llanerchaeron. There are also plans for special floral displays in Aberystwyth, and in Bala where the Cambrian News started in 1860.

And there are several charity events being organised, including a fashion show, and a cheese and wine evening.
But kicking off the celebrations will be the release of 150 lanterns from the top of Constitution Hill in Aberystwyth, on 4 March.
