Businessman's dismay at 'unfair' council dismissal

A STORM is brewing after an organiser of Llanidloes Fancy Dress lost his seat on the town council because he didn’t attend a meeting for six months.

However, local businessman Peter ‘Benji’ Rees (pictured) has said his dismissal is unfair as he informed Llanidloes Town Council that he would be working away and therefore unable to attend meetings.

Mr Rees claims he notified the full council at their April meeting, and this week has sent letters from several councillors who confirm they heard him speak up on the matter.The council has said it is abiding by guidelines.
