Clock repairs going well
SCAFFOLDING for vital repair work at Machynlleth Town Clock won’t need to be re-erected, the scheme’s architect has said.
And town councillor Glenda Jenkins, who launched the appeal to save the clock, has hailed the announcement as good news for the town.
Work on the town clock has recently started with scaffolding in place for Phase 1 of the scheme which is aimed at emergency repairs. But Cllr Jenkins said the original proposal of bringing the scaffolding down after that work is completed and putting it back up again for Phase 4 can now be ruled out.
She said: “The work has progressed well because some of the repairs are not as bad as first thought and the architect wants to re-profile the work so the work on Phase 4 can be done while the scaffolding is up."
