Co-op given month to come up with hall cash
MACHYNLLETH Town Council has set a deadline of one month for the Co-operative to come up with the cash for the old drill hall or the building will be put back on the open market.
The new events and community centre at Y Plas was supposed to be paid for by the sale of the old drill hall.
The town council has been in talks with the Co-op to sell the hall for almost a year, but the supermarket is waiting to find out whether it can get planning permission for an extension to its Machynlleth store.
County councillor Michael Williams told a town council meeting this week: “I am concerned over the delay of the sale of the old community centre."
