Children aged 14 and 15 are among 11 arrested

18 August 2010

CHILDREN as young as 14 and 15 have been arrested in connection with “serious disorder” in Dolgellau which left three people in hospital.

Police have moved to reassure residents this week that there is not a gang culture in the town, despite the shocking violence at a children’s play area over the weekend.

Nine arrests have now been made by police investigating the violence at about 2am on Saturday by Dolgellau park, which saw three people being rushed to hospital with injuries, with one of them still in a serious condition.

Six teenagers aged between 15 and 19 and two women aged 20 and 21 were arrested on Saturday and Sunday.

And police have confirmed to the Cambrian News that a ninth person arrested on Tuesday afternoon is a 14-year-old boy.

Two injured men who were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor have now returned home and a 21-year-old, who was taken to Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth, and later transferred to Swansea’s Morriston Hospital, is still in a serious condition but has been taken off the critical list.
