Permanent Gypsy site bid sparks protests

FEARFUL villagers say they will no longer feel safe in their own homes if contentious plans for a permanent Gypsy site in Llangybi get the go-ahead.

A planning application for around five caravans to be located on land at Maes Llety Cybi has been submitted by a family of Gypsies to Ceredigion Council in a bid to give their children a stable education.

The plans include permanent and touring caravans for the family - who currently own and sometimes live on the land - as well as space for relatives to park up and stay for up to 28 days at a time.

In a statement submitted with the application they said without permission to stay they will be forced onto illegal ‘Gypsy sites’ and the children would be unable to attend school.
