Teenager thanks his rescuer after 'tombstoning' injury

25 August 2010

A 15-year-old Llangrannog boy who was rushed to hospital after injuring his spine ‘tombstoning’ five metres down from cliffs has thanked his rescuers.

Owen Drew was rushed to Bronglais Hospital on Monday, 16 August, around 3pm when complaining of neck and spinal injuries after jumping off rocks into the sea with a group of friends.

Llangrannog Lifeguards and New Quay Coastguard Rescue Team carried him on a spinal board through the waters out from Second Bay to an awaiting ambulance.

Owen, who was released from hospital after being found with no serious injures, has since thanked the lifeguards for their actions in getting him medical attention quickly.
