Traffic backed up for miles as lorry blocks road

RESIDENTS in Beddgelert are reiterating their calls for a solution to the problem of lorries getting stuck in the village, after a large truck blocked the road for four hours this week.

The lorry had to be helped four miles back down the way it came by police and local residents so it could turn round and find another route.

Beddgelert has been plagued for years by large HGVs getting stuck and damaging buildings as they try to take a shortcut through the village.

According to residents, lorries get stuck on a daily basis and have to reverse back. And more recently, drivers have started using sat-nav systems designed for cars, which can give the impression that the roads around Beddgelert are passable for HGVs.
