US tutor after soap role

AN American college tutor has become an internet sensation after the discovery of his Llanbrynmair roots led him to learn Welsh, writes Scarlet Jones.

Dan Rhys, from California (pictured), is now hoping his love of all things Gymraeg will land him a dream part in long-running Welsh language soap, Pobol y Cwm.

He has posted clips of himself auditioning for the soap on YouTube, which have received more than 3,500 hits in total.

The 29-year-old English tutor spoke exclusively to the Cambrian News about how he hopes his self-taught linguistic skills will help him find not only his dream job but his dream woman too.
