'There's more parking in Aberystwyth now, not less'

CEREDIGION council claimed this week that there are enough car parking spaces in town for potential customers, following the news that two Aberystwyth businesses are set to close.

Cyril Baker, chairman of Aberystwyth’s Chamber of Commerce, said he would be sad to see the demise of the Milk Bar cafe and the Ambassadors shop in Terrace Road.

“It’s a sad reflection of how fixed overheads have escalated and no longer represent the business opportunities,” said Mr Baker.

But a Ceredigion County Council spokesperson has said that, despite car parking problems being frequently cited as a reason for falling footfall, parking spaces in Aberystwyth have actually increased over recent years.
