Trust waiting on £4.5m to transform town's castle

THIS is what Cardigan Castle could look like if a £4.5m Lottery bid to restore the grounds and create a Welsh heritage centre is successful.

Transformation plans for the 12th century castle are now being finalised and a bid is expected to go before the Heritage Lottery Fund at the end of this month.

Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust, who are behind the mammoth £9m make-over, hope to convert the Castle into a heritage centre and Welsh language school.

After years of campaigning, they have this month unveiled the plans for the future of the castle which is thought to be the birthplace of the National Eisteddfod back in 1176.
