Group receives almost £250,000 for chapel

A BIG Lottery Grant of almost £250,000 has been awarded to convert and refurbish a chapel in Pennal into a multi purpose community centre.

The ‘People and Places’ programme supports 15 projects in Wales to revitalize and support community projects. ‘Canolfan Pennal Cyf’ will receive a grant of £247,100 to adapt the chapel and nearby vestry in the centre of the village into a much needed community centre for the villages of Pennal and Cwrt and the surrounding area.

Mair Jones, chairman of the venture’s committee, said: “We are thrilled to have secured this grant, and are looking forward to being able to provide the people of Pennal with a centre for the whole of the community.
