Job losses spark fears for future of Theatr Harlech

SERIOUS concerns have been raised about the future of Theatr Harlech after it was announced that some staff are to lose their jobs.

Four staff – three full-time and a part time cleaner – were given their redundancy notices on Friday and told their posts would end by December.

Redundancies at the theatre, which was once a thriving community centre and the only theatre still open between Aberystwyth and Bangor, come after the theatre in June lost its revenue funding from the Arts Council of Wales, which reviewed its spending on arts groups.

Ben Rosen, a former technical manager at the theatre, said the job cuts will be a huge loss for Harlech and the surrounding area.
