Geraint bids for Fferm Ffactor crown
A TALYBONT needs your help in a bid to be crowned the winner of this year's Fferm Ffactor.
Tal-y-bont farmer Geraint Jenkins is among the three finalists in Fferm Ffactor, S4C’s reality series to find Wales' best farmer – and viewers have the opportunity to help him win.
In the penultimate programme of the series, Wednesday 21 November 8.25pm (English subtitles), Geraint and the other finalists – Gethin Owen of Betws-yn-Rhos, Conwy and Dilwyn Owen of Llanedwen, Anglesey – presented a business plan for an agricultural product or scheme.
As part of the task, they each produced a 30 second viral video advert. Each video has been posted on the Fferm Ffactor Facebook page and fans are invited to vote for their favourite using the 'like' button.
The result of the vote will be presented to the series judges, Professor Wynne Jones and former winner Aled Rees, as they consider who should be crowned Champion and take home the grand prize - the Isuzu D-Max Yukon 4x4.
Geraint explains his business plan: "After hearing recently about the high demand for allotments in Aberystwyth I came up with a scheme where farmers can offer their land as allotments. Tied in with this will be a scheme where people can sign up to receive boxes of fresh vegetables for a set payment each week.
"The intention is to strengthen the link between people and the land and to ensure a fair price to farmers for their produce."
As the Fferm Ffactor journey nears the finishing line, is Geraint confident that he can take the prize?
"Of course, all three of us hope to come out on top. There are two very strong contestants against me and I'm lucky that I'm so competitive! We've been equal in the last few tasks and it depends now on who makes the best impression in the final task," says the 24 year old farmer.
"I've really enjoyed it all but the highlight for me was the cheese-making task. I never imagined when I started Fferm Ffactor that I'd see a product I'd made on the shelves."
Go to the Fferm Ffactor Facebook page – fb.com/ffermffactor – to view all three videos, and 'like' your favourite to show your support. The vote closes at midday on Friday 23 November, 2012, with results revealed during the final programme of the series.
In the hour-long final on Wednesday (28 November 8.25pm, English subtitles), all ten contestants will be brought back together to celebrate the announcement of the winner.
