Five arrests as drugs and weapons seized
A ONE-day initiative by police to crack down on crime resulted in the arrest of five people after drug and weapon raids across Meirionnydd.
The North Wales force-wide operation, called ‘Impact Day’, saw raids of households in Dolgellau, Tywyn, Barmouth and the Blaenau Ffestiniog areas last Wednesday.
In total, over 180 police officers were involved in the execution of warrants and searching of premises throughout north Wales, starting at 6am.
There were 84 arrests in north Wales, with over half of those - 47 - taking place in Gwynedd.
Following the execution of a search warrant in one property in Meirionnydd, police said that numerous weapons, including large knives, and a quantity of what appeared to be class A controlled drugs were seized.
