Hungry? Charitable Bethan takes on breakfast challenge
AN Aberystwyth wseather girl tfelt the pressure when she took on the biggest breakfast in town for charity. Bethan Power, who presents the weather on the Radio Bronglais breakfast show, took on the daunting prospect of eating John Morris’ cowboy breakfast at his New Station Café in Terrace Road on Tuesday.
The challenge is part of a campaign by the radio station to buy educational toys for the children’s ward at Bronglais. Ten eggs, 10 rashers of bacon, 10 sausages, 10 black puddings, a tin of beans, and 10 rounds of toast were presented to her as the show went live from the café. But after failing to get through it, Bethan roped in the café’s cook to help her, and even then the pair were left with one sausage, a few slices of bacon, some black pudding and an egg.
“There was a good half an hour of non-stop munching then some reheating and a second attempt before our stomachs could take no more,” said Bethan. “The challenge was a daunting one, but a great way to start the day. “I would not have got half as far as I did without the support of the genuinely lovely staff at the New Station Café, and I am very grateful to them for their friendly hospitality.”
