Radio station to hold auction for hospital

22 May 2013

ON Thursday, 30 May, from 9pm, at Varsity, Aberystwyth, Radio Bronglais will be hosting its first charity auction in over 10 years. The aim is to raise £5,000 to replenish the toys, games and craft materials for young patients in the children’s ward at Bronglais Hospital and to buy interactive learning toys. They have also joined forces with Tarannau American Football Team, who will be auctioning themselves to help raise more funds.

The lots include a hot tub, fruit machine, signed books, printer, gold pendant, fruit baskets, meat packages, a family trip on steam railway, various meals around Aberystwyth and a produce basket from the Farmers’ Market. Each lot will be auctioned by a member of the American Football Team. A spokesman said: “We aim to broadcast the whole event on air, enabling people to place their bids via phone to one of our volunteers at the event. We will also be holding a massive open mic night, which will be broadcast.”
