Poison pen letters sent to councillor
A TYWYN town councillor has spoken of her “upset” and “disgust” after receiving abusive letters at her home.
Cllr Anne Lloyd Jones, who is also Chairman of Gwynedd Council, told fellow councillors at a town council’s meeting that she had been receiving anonymous hand-written letters and asked fellow members if they had also received letters.
Cllr Lloyd-Jones said: “Somebody has been sending me some letters which are quite disgusting.
“These letters are addressed to me at home but do not have a name or address on them, so I cannot reply, and some bits are quite a personal attack.
“It’s not nice to be receiving these sort of letters through the post, it has been quite distressing and there are no contact details so that I am able to reply.”
Cllr Lloyd Jones believes the letters have come about after an article in the Cambrian News in November, regarding a letter of opinion sent in by a member of the public, who attended that month’s meeting.
In the letter, a businessman accused Anne Lloyd Jones of not doing enough to help save local toilets and schools.
