Anti-social couple kicked out of estate
A Penparcau couple have been evicted from their house after neighbours complained that their persistent anti-social behaviour had made their lives a misery.
Married couple Matthew and Jamie Harvey had lived at 18 Cae Job for two years. They had been warned on many occasions by police and the Cymdeithas Tai Cantref housing association that their anti-social behaviour was unacceptable.
And on 22 January, Tai Cantref, which owns the property, applied to Aberystwyth County Court for an injunction to prohibit the Harveys from going within 50 metres of Cae Job.
Seven days later, the association was granted an eviction order by the county court.
Pc Paul Roberts, a member of the Penparcau NPT, had carried out a Community Impact Statement to support the applications.
He said: “The Harveys had received numerous verbal and written warnings about their anti-social behaviour and they were aware of their Acceptable Behaviour Contract, which requires a certain standard of behaviour to be maintained and which, if not adhered to, can result in action being taken.
“But they continued to cause problems both on the estate and in Aberystwyth.
“Penparcau NPT will not tolerate anti-social behaviour which adversely affects the lives of other residents.”
The injunction remains in force until 20 January 2011. And any breach of the injunction carries a Power of Arrest under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003.
Matthew Harvey’s present whereabouts are not known, while his wife, Jamie Harvey, is on remand, facing a charge of arson at 18 Cae Job.
