Llanbedr airfield hopes at meeting

CAMPAIGNERS trying to get an old military airfield reopened, had a positive meeting last week.

Speaking at a packed village hall in Llanbedr on Thursday evening, local residents and dignitaries gave their support to the reopening of the airfield.

Caerwyn Roberts, the chairman of the Snowdonia National Park, said: “The Snowdonia National Park has given its full support to Kemble in their efforts to get the airfield up and running.

“Yes, the Certificate of Lawful Use was refused in November, but the door is certainly not closed.

“We would very much hope that the site can be developed again.

“There is room for manoeuvre and a re-submission of the Lawful Use Certificates, with slight amendments, would be looked at again.

“The option of a full planning application is also open to the company if they wish,” Mr Roberts added.
