Bringing Minh to Mach

03 March 2010

A VIETNAMESE farming expert is visiting Machynlleth this week to discuss global warming and rural livelihoods.

He is Nguyen Quang Minh, who is livelihoods programme coordinator for Oxfam Great Britain and works in Vietnam helping the poorest people there to earn a living.

He will give a free talk entitled “Earning a Living in a Changing Climate: A Vietnamese Perspective”, this Thursday, starting at 7.30pm, in CAT’s Quarry Cafe.

He will describe how people in Vietnam are adapting to global warming. He will explain how he is tackling these issues through initiatives such as community-based forest management as well as policy and grassroots work to develop long-term livelihoods.

A spokesperson for Oxfam Cymru said: “Bringing Minh to Mach is a great chance for supporters to hear first hand about the work their support enables.”

Food will be served in the cafe from 6.30pm, in time for the talk at 7.30pm, followed by a question-and-answer session.
