Fortnightly collections on the way

WEEKLY black bin bag collections are to be scrapped in favour of weekly recycling and food waste collections.

And people who don’t take part in food waste collections will face fines from the council as part of the authority’s drive to improve its recycling rates.

The council’s highways department wants to axe weekly black bin bag collections and instead collect black bin bag waste fortnightly.

That would leave weekly collections for the current clear bag recycling and for food waste in collections similar to a trial currently taking place in Aberystwyth.
