Knife-wielding masked robber jailed for five years

A MASKED robber who held up a holiday resort worker in New Quay at knifepoint before stealing £4,000 in cash has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to the offences.

Trevor Alan West, 48, also received a three-month custodial sentence for fraud in relation to the attempted sale of a stolen fridge, at an earlier hearing at Aberystwyth Magistrates court.

The court heard how West, a former kitchen employee of the Quay West Holiday Park, entered the site via a back office on the night of Thursday, 15 October, 2009 where he disguised his face by wearing a bag over his head with eye-holes cut out of it.

After gaining entry he threatened staff members and searched for cash.
