Anger as "outsiders" clear shore of mussels

ANGRY VILLAGERS in Aberdyfi have hit out after mussel pickers descended on the beach at the weekend.

Around 15 men from Hollywell and Swansea gathered on the beach on Sunday after the mussels had been classified fit to pick following a ban.

Locals were unaware that the men were coming, or that picking mass quantities of mussels was even allowed.

They said they were also upset that large groups could come into the small village to make a large amount of money for elsewhere.

The two groups said they were refused a permit to collect at Aberdyfi last year, and waited months until it was finally granted last week.
