Elderly couple's fear after letter box attack

AN ELDERLY couple have spoken of their upset and fear after being targeted by vandals who tried to pour a chemical into the letterbox of their home while they slept.

Retired Richard and Nesta Owen said the unknown vandals had tried to throw the bleach-like chemical through the letter box of their home in Isgraig Estate, Tremadog, but when the letter box wouldn’t open fully, the substance was poured over the door and doorstep.

Some of the liquid went through the letter box and onto the couple’s net curtains and carpet, and took the paint off the doorstep.

There were also eight empty cans of beer left on the step, which had the ‘bleach’ in, and are what the culprits are thought to have used to pour the chemical into the house.

The incident happened on Monday night, but Mrs Owen, a retired nurse, said her and her husband only noticed the damage to their home the next morning.
