Mach comedy festival to boost the economy
A BRAND new comedy festival is promising to bring in hundreds of people and a welcome boost to the economy when it is launched in Machynlleth next month.
Top comedians Robin Ince, Tudur Owen and Jon Richardson, fresh from a best show nomination at Edinburgh 2009, are among the acts headlining a weekend (24-26 April) of comedy in some amazing venues including the Y Plas Events Centre.
The festival aims to showcase new comedians as well as established acts.
Founder Henry Widdicombe (pictured), from Brecon, says he is excited to be bringing so much comedy talent together in one weekend.
He said: “It’s amazing how many great comics have signed up for the festival in its inaugural year.
“I think the idea of holding a festival in Machynlleth has really struck a chord with a lot of people.”
