Have-a-go heroes stop Champagne Charlies

TWO thieves attempting to flee with £30 bottles of champagne were foiled by a supermarket worker and a plucky customer.

Quick-thinking staff member Barry Evans at Tywyn’s Co-operative store spotted that a couple of men had filled their trolley with a large amount of alcohol and were behaving suspiciously.

As one of the men went to the tills to pay for a loaf of bread, his accomplice headed for the exit with the trolley, but Mr Evans was outside waiting to confront them.

Both men, who are from Walsall, tried to escape when approached. Luckily, a customer had seen what was going on and blocked the thieves’ car in the supermarket car park.
