Lecturer in bid to restore restore monk's route

A LAMPETER lecturer is embarking on a restoration project to help restore an historic path linking two ancient abbeys back to its former glory after completing the 25-mile route to raise charity funds.

University lecturer Sam Hurn and Alexander Badman-King completed the Medieval Monk’s Trod between Strata Florida Abbey and Abbey Cwmhir to raise finds for World Horse Welfare and explore the important route.

And after 14 long hours in the saddle to reach their destination and complete the challenge, they are now looking to try to restore the path which has been left overgrown and even closed off to the public in what could be a huge boost for tourism in the area.
