Councillor suspended from planning meeting

A LONG-running row over claims a Beulah councillor failed to declare an interest over Cardigan’s bath-house hospital development has finally come to a head as he is banned from just one planning meeting.

County Cllr Lyndon Lloyd is suspended from sitting on the next monthly planning committee after an external investigation found him in breach of the council’s code of conduct when discussing an application for the development in 2008.

The allegations refer back to when an application for development on the farm site to include a hospital and health care facilities came before Ceredigion Council’s planning committee in August 2008.

At the time, Cllr Lloyd was an associate member of the Local Heath Board and member of the Community Health Council, but failed to declare this as an interest and spoke in favour of the scheme.

But after a complaint from a member of the public, the case was brought before the Adjudication Panel for Wales who have now imposed the lenient ban after finding his actions breached the council’s code.
