Family who will go to any lengths in mum's memory

04 August 2010

A CHARITY swim of 239,200 lengths of a pool in memory of a Lampeter mother who died of cancer in 2009 is already set to smash its fund-raising target before it has even begun.

Andrew Thomas has arranged the 5,980 km Swim the Atlantic Challenge to raise £5,980 for Macmillan Cancer support in memory of his late wife Elwyna who died from cancer in 2009.

The challenge is set to emulate the achievement of Frenchman, Benoit Lecomte, who was the first man to swim the distance across the Atlantic Ocean back in 1998 to raise money for cancer charities in memory of his father.
