Leaked report reveals cuts for Bronglais

SECRET proposals which could see Bronglais Hospital downgraded, services removed and jobs lost have been leaked to the Cambrian News.

The confidential report by Hywel Dda Local Health Board proposes moving specialist obstetric, paediatric and complex medical, surgical and trauma services from Bronglais and centralising them at West Wales General Hospital in Carmarthen.

It also suggested Bronglais Hospital could be downgraded from a district general hospital to a rural general hospital.

Around 1,200 jobs would also be lost in hospitals throughout the Hywel Dda Local Health Board area, with vacancies not filled or staff re-deployed. The LHB say the changes could save £100m a year.
