Hospital move raises nursing home hopes

PLANS are afoot to close Machynlleth hospital and move the services to a new site.


As part of the development, the town could finally get the nursing home it so badly needs.


Chief executive of Powys LHB, Andrew Cottom, met with members of Machynlleth Town Council last
week and said that it was likely plans currently being developed for health services in the town would include a nursing home.


Cllr David Wyn Davies said: “A nursing home for Machynlleth is the most desperate thing of all."

It was a shock to read today that the hospital in machynlleth is going to be closed and the excitment by the town council at the prospects of having a nursing home in its place doesnt anybody realise that there is nowhere to build a new hospital in the area this can only mean that the people of machynlleth will have to travel a long distance for any treatment and the staff will all be without work`also this sort of headlines willl put anyone off from coming to work in the hospital which will then be a good excuse to shut the place because of staffing levels.
