Victory for traders as 3-month closure axed

TRADERS in Tremadog are claiming a victory for common sense, after it was announced that the road to Porthmadog will not now be closing for three months.

There was up-roar last month after it was revealed that the Assembly Government and the contractors of the Porthmadog bypass were looking at the possibility of completely closing the A487 road between Tremadog and Porthmadog for three months.

But after a campaign by business owners, who claimed that the closure of the road would have a detrimental effect on their trade, the Welsh Assembly have now opted for traffic lights while work is being carried out.
