Trio raises thousands with sponsored walk

THREE walkers finally arrived back home in Blaenau Ffestiniog over the weekend, after finishing a gruelling 50-mile non-stop sponsored walk from Aberystwyth.

The walkers, Deian Jones, Keith Williams and Emma Griffiths Roberts, set off from the top of Penglais hill in Aberystwyth at 3pm on Friday, 13 August, and arrived back in Blaenau 24 hours later.

They were supported on their journey by Rhys Roberts and Catrin Roberts, and raised over £2,000 for the Stroke Association and the Alzheimer’s Research Trust, two charities close to their hearts.

Emma said: “A year ago my brother-in-law, Steven Williams from Porthmadog, suffered a blood clot in his brain that caused him to have a stroke at the age of 29.

“Everybody was shaken up by the condition he was left in, and I felt so useless that I couldn’t make him better.

“So I felt that trying to raise money was all I had to offer."
