Chris’ catwalks on show

PHOTOGRAPHER of fashion models on the catwalk for many years, Chris Moore has a retrospective exhibition of some of his most iconic images at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, in Catwalking.
Chris Moore began his career as a photographer’s assistant at Vogue, working with such luminaries as Henry Clark, Norman Parkinson and Cecil Beaton.
Much of his early career was spent documenting the Paris couture shows in the late 60s. But as the fashion show circuit expanded, photographing catwalks became a full-time occupation.
Dubbed “King of the Catwalk”, Moore’s images from the 60s include Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Cardin and Courreges, through to extravagant, theatrical spectacles by Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen.
For 43 years, Moore trod fashion’s “front line”, angling for the best spot at the end of the catwalk, and discreetly capturing unforgettable moments backstage.
And with an incredible picture archive, Moore’s work celebrates the industry’s greatest, and most memorable, designers.
Catwalking is on show until Saturday, 3 March.
