BRONGLAIS Hospital’s A&E department was the best in Wales for seeing patients inside four hours in June 2016, latest figures have shown.

While the Bronglais unit didn’t meet the Welsh Government target of seeing 95 per cent of patients within four hours, 89.6 per cent of the 2,276 patients who attended at the A&E department were seen inside four hours.

A total of 97.8 per cent of patients at the department were seen inside eight hours, the joint best in Wales along with Prince Charles Hospital in Cwm Taf Health Board.

However, despite the Bronglais A&E being the best of all major units in Wales in seeing patients inside four hours and amongst the best in terms of the percentage of patients seen within eight and 12 hours, the performance in June is actually a slight drop on the figures for May.

In May, 90.9 per cent of patients were seen inside four hours, which was the best performance in Wales. Bronglais was also the best performing unit at seeing patients inside eight hours in May.

The Bronglais figures though are an improvement on the figures for June 2015 which showed that 89.1 per cent of patients were seen inside four hours, with 96.8 per cent inside eight hours and 98 per cent within 12 hours.
