ABERYSTWYTH Town Council has decided on a new mayor and deputy mayor who will take charge in May.
Mayor Cllr Endaf Edwards will step down and make way for the current deputy mayor, Cllr Brendan Somers (pictured), who will be joined by Penparcau councillor Steve Davies as deputy.
The mayor-making ceremony will take place on the evening of Friday, 13 May and this will be followed by a Mayor’s Parade through the town on Sunday, 15 May, starting at 10.15am outside Aberystwyth Town Hall.
At a meeting of Aberystwyth Town Council, Cllr Brian Davies paid tribute to the way in which the current mayor has conducted himself.
“Please note the way the present mayor Endaf Edwards has achieved his work,” said Cllr Davies.
“He has worked with respect and in an excellent manner, and we all thank him for the way in which he has dealt with his role with dignity and respect.”
Originally from Pontrhydfendigaid, Cllr Edwards, who represents Plaid Cymru, works in the National Library of Wales, where he is part of the Digido (Digitisation for Business) project.
Cllr Somers and Cllr Davies are also Plaid Cymru councillors.
