Women born in the 1950s and their supporters are being urged to attend the official launch of the Ceredigion branch of a campaign for women’s pension justice next week.

The first general meeting of the Ceredigion Women Against State Pension Injustice will take place at 11am on Saturday, 19 January, at RAY Ceredigion, Tabernacle Street, Aberaeron.

Ceredigion MP Ben Lake will update the meeting about recent developments in Parliament, including the Judicial Review, the Ombudsman’s investigation and the All Party Parliamentary Group on State Pension Inequality for Women.

“There are 5,000 women in Ceredigion born in the 1950s who have been treated very badly,” he said.

“Despite paying national insurance all their working lives, many now have to wait a further six years to get the pension they had reasonably expected at age 60.

“We need to keep the pressure up on the government until these women get the justice they deserve.”

Pamela Judge, one of the WASPI organisers, said: “Not only are we helping women to make formal complaints about maladministration, WASPI is also a good opportunity for us to support each other. Too many women have been struggling on in isolation.”
