CEREDIGION Youth Service has been awarded the prestigious Bronze Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales.
The Welsh Government launched the Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales in October 2015 to provide a robust, independent, external assessment of the quality and performance of organisations that deliver youth work in Wales.
The final report identified that Ceredigion Youth Service offered high quality youth work covering 16 core areas, including performance management, quality of youth work practice, young people’s learning and legal requirements.
The report identified that Ceredigion Youth Service is a central and key partner to the delivery of Council services for young people.
They felt that the workforce understands their role and have very good knowledge of the needs of the young people in the communities.
A key strength identified in the report was that the Youth Workers are very effective at building relationships with young people which are based on trust and they are there to support and promote the young people’s learning and development. Young people develop their confidence and social skills through a good range of opportunities taking place in school based work, outreach provision and in youth clubs.
The team of assessors also reported that Ceredigion Youth Service demonstrates a strong emphasis on partnership working with voluntary and statutory services to extend provision for young people and ensure national and local priorities can be delivered through both targeted and open access working.
Regular information sharing and joint planning with other statutory agencies is ensuring young people are well supported to access specialist support and that Ceredigion Youth Service can provide good support when the young people ‘step down’ from working with specialist agencies.
