Seafood Festival
THOUSANDS of good food lovers descended upon Aberdyfi for its second annual seafood festival.
On Saturday, 20 August, the festival featured cookery demonstrations by leading local chefs as well as the opportunity to sample and purchase a wide range of Welsh produce including sea food, award winning cheeses, fresh pasta, locally reared meat, Snowdonia honey, smoked foods, preserves and jams, gourmet ice-lollies, beer, cider and wine and Aberdyfi cakes, cookies and fudge.Rhian Cooper, who helped organise the event, was delighted with how the festival went even after inclement weather threatened proceedings.“We made the last-minute decision to move the festival to the field adjacent to the Neuadd Dyfi,” she said.
“I think wind and rain might have blown the open stalls into the estuary if we hadn’t!
“It worked well though, the area was very sheltered and we probably peaked at around 3,000 visitors.
“There were hundreds of dogs too so we made sure we catered for them as well, even supplying them with a special brand of ‘ice cream’.”She added: “The Welsh Mangalitza stall - a variety of pig - was a tremen-dous success too, they use every single piece of a pig as they butcher it and it’s fascinating to watch.
“They even donate the skulls to local artists who use them in different projects. We’re all very excited for next year’s event now, hopefully it’ll be bigger than ever.”
