Madam,

I have followed with considerable interest your recent coverage of domiciliary home care services in Ceredigion. Whilst I have no doubt that many readers will have experienced exemplary care from compassionate, dedicated and devoted carers, others may have concerns about care being provided to them or someone they know.

I would therefore be grateful if you would allow me to bring to your readers’ attention the appropriate avenues for raising such concerns.

In the first instance, complaints should be raised with the domiciliary home care agency, in line with their company procedures. If concerns are not satisfactorily addressed, they should then be addressed to the Care Inspectorate Wales (formerly CSSIW), which is the independent regulator of social care in Wales. They can be contacted on 0300 7900 126, by post to Care Inspectorate Wales, Welsh Government, Rhydycar Business Park, CF48 1UZ, or by emailing [email protected].

Concerns may be raised by service users themselves as well as their relatives, friends, neighbours, care staff or other involved professionals.

I should point out that CIW welcomes all feedback – not only complaints, but also comments and indeed compliments. Further information can be found online at careinspectorate.wales.

Yours etc,

Name and address supplied.
