Intrepid long-distance walker Beth Wickes – who is completing the whole of the British coastline while raising money for the RNLI - visited New Quay Lifeboat Station as she passed through Ceredigion.

‘Beth Foot Forward’ is raising money for the RNLI, the Association of Lowland Search and Rescue, and Mountain Rescue England and Wales.

She is attempting to walk the whole of the British coastline, over 6,000 miles within two years, visiting every RNLI lifeboat station on her way.

Beth began her journey last October at Tower Bridge lifeboat station in London and has completed 1,500 miles so far.

“It is great walking the Welsh coastline with its fantastic scenery and great people,” she said. “I am not half-way into my journey yet, but everyone is being so supportive and each leg is going well.”

She added: “It’s been wonderful seeing parts of the country I’ve never been to before and looking back and seeing my progress."

Roger Couch, New Quay RNLI lifeboat operations manager, who was there to greet her, said: “After another gruelling leg of our beautiful Welsh coastline Beth arrived on Saturday afternoon. She looked in great shape and we wish her well for the rest of her journey.”

Beth is aiming to raise £60,000 for the three charities.
