Station museum
VISITORS to the museum will see a few changes when it opens on 29 May for its sixth summer season.Changes in the way the collection is organised means that there is much more room for people to walk around.Back to a four-day-a-week opening, organisers are hoping for another good year. Limited Easter opening, despite the weather, was very promising with more than 400 people passing through the doors.Celebrating its fifth birthday in July, volunteers are organising a Birthday Bash. A fun family day with all proceeds going to support the groups and charities working with refugee children in Dunkirk. Dancing for Dunkirk is likely to be the order of the day with music from local groups, a raffle, clowns, children’s activities and refreshments. All donations to the museum on that day will go to the cause. The intention is to keep it simple but fun.One of the most challenging problems facing the museum is the cataloguing of the ever-increasing collection. It is hoped, with the support of Ceredigion Muse-um, to get systems in place very soon, but volunteers who are interested in this sort of work are needed to help.New planters on the platform and a new Borth sign – the old one was destroyed in the gales earlier this year – means that the platform is looking smart and welcoming. Hopefully, visitors will feel the same about the new-look museum. The management team is always ready to welcome new volunteers to act as stewards. Anyone who enjoys meeting and chatting with people and thinks they would like to try it out, should get in touch either through the website or by calling in at the museum.
